Harry Potter & Me

Fantasy, everybody has one. Everybody tries to escape the deadlines, the stress, the complications of their life into a world where time runs according to their own will, where flowers bloom on their accord and where they live like nobody else exist. Hey, hey don’t just escape yet you need to read the entire thing then you can switch to your daydreaming mood but till then stick to the end. So yeah, where I was… yup fantasy. One such fantasy was created by one of the greatest female authors or rather, one of the greatest female the human civilisation has known- JK Rowling (for those who don’t know who I am talking about, she is the author of Harry Potter Series). Her story is as inspiring and enthralling as the tale she told the world in form of seven prolong novels of magic, witches and wizards.  The world she bought to life by weaving the words into an entire universe of enchanting characters and their lives is the real beauty of literature. And yes, this saga came out as the definition of true fantasy the planet had ever know.

I am not going to write a blurb about the storyline because I think the experience is different for every single one of us. So instead, I will talk about me and Harry Potter, the famous boy-who-lived. It was the year of 2016, when…no harry wasn’t born. It was the year where the Potterhead in me was born. So, the day was like every other normal day in a school going teenager’s life but what was special was the topic of discussion. Everybody had something to say, something to reject, something to add but I was sitting wondering why did I never bother to think about it before. Now I am hoping you’ve already guessed the topic of discussion it was about the famous Harry Potter. It was normal after- school discussion with a bunch of my friends but it wasn’t the same for me because I am never the one to stay silent and not have my views on things especially concerned with my age-group. You know it’s a kind of nature, which I really can’t help not that even I want to. So that evening, I opened my laptop and opened the global life saviour…google and typed Harry Potter. And I never knew I was laying an entire new journey for me.

I began with movies; late nights and I was still stuck with boy with a scar and a man without nose. How? I don’t know but I was and still I am the same. Then came the books, I could not stop my fingers from turning the pages and I don’t even remember how many mugs of coffee I emptied while doing so. It was 2017 when I was officially becoming a pureblood Potterhead (HP terminology). It was not an obsession, no it was something more like a connection you feel with certain things, things which make you feel ‘what if I was there’… it’s more than just a series of pure illusion, it enchants the viewers or readers, it opens a world of creation for them, for them to believe the unbelievable. Harry Potter changed me in many terms, I am not an illusionist, nah, but I am a better innovator and a better creator than I was before. It showed me the power of friendship, a relationship that follows no obligations and made me believe that you need one friend who becomes the flashlight every time there is a power cut in your life, I am still searching one. But it also made a believer, so I will always be grateful for whatever I have.

I am changing the theme line, let’s get back to the theme in hand, now let me give you some basic information about myself in HP (Harry Potter) World. I am a Pureblood Potter Head, as I mentioned before.  My Hogwarts house is Slytherin but that doesn’t mean I am Bellatrix, I like being compared to Snape, that works. Haha!  I have been given the phoenix feather wand. Well, for those who came across the term “Slytherin” for the first time, let me tell you these people are ambitious, leaders, cunning and will do anything to achieve what they want. So here are some tips for the newcomers to the HP universe, begin with movies if you aren’t a much of book lover but movies will provide eighty percent of what books will provide. but it’s always good to begin with movies because when you read books all scenes flow in front of your eyes and you know how the Weasley’s look like together or how hard Hermione slap Draco, you know, all comes alive.  If you are the one who don’t know what to do in their summer vacation, (even if we are having one since last year but whatever) you should try and give the creation of Rowling a shot, trust me it will be worth it.

Finally, I can go on speaking about Harry Potter for the day to end and restart again, it happens…just happens. Wait… what? It’s okay if even after reading this you feel this isn’t your genre. Everything famous isn’t the best, because all glitters isn’t gold. True. But this isn’t famous because it is, it is popular and loved because it deserved all that it got. So, let’s say I believe you don’t have to love everything the world love, love something because you think it’s worthy of that love. I wrote this because there were nights when I was done with everyone, even myself but Harry Potter gave me an escape. I wrote this because there were times when I didn’t deem anything, but Harry Potter made me believe again, in its own way. We get connected to things, strangely, we don’t even recognize how deep that connection becomes, but it remains. So, this blog made me add one thing to my bucket list that is rewind the good old days of Harry Potter & me.

Thanks for reading!
